Special sealing for highly exposed joints

Based on years of experience with sealing, especially of exposed connections in nuclear power plants, we have developed the special gaskets mentioned below.

We manufacture several variants of special gaskets which are designated for environments requiring extreme reliability and service life or for sealing connections exposed to high pressure and temperatures.

Our gaskets are used in nuclear power plants of the VVER type to seal flanged connections of the primary circuit, e.g. steam generators, main circulation pumps etc.

We provide our customers with complete service in this area, from the design of the sealing joint, manufacturing the gasket to professional installation and servicing.

MITes HT®

mites-ht_325It is a kammprofile gasket with variable comb profile. The thickness of the graphite foil is designed in such a way that the comb does not cut through the foil and therefore the sealing surface or the metal comb is not damaged. Mutual combination of these parameters allows a basically unlimited number of renewals of the sealing by just replacing the graphite foil with a clean one. The kammprofile gasket comprises a supporting stainless steel core and layer of expanded graphite.

Its low value of minimum pressure and high strength including high thermal and chemical resistance guarantees versatility of use for most parameters from the classic "soft" gaskets to metal gasket.

Reference application since 1998 are used especially on the most exposed places  of primary and secondary circuits of nuclear power plants of the VVER type in the Czech and Slovak Republics as a replacement of original nickel gaskets. MITes HT sealing is usually suggested for existing flange connections designated for a different sealing system without the necessity to change the geometry and function.

MITes HF 400®

mites-hf-400A flexible gasket with high sealing ability and big spring-back based on the kammprofile gasket with expanded graphite.

It is suggested especially for standardized flanges where it compensates its curve with high preciseness and provides high tightness. An insert made of expanded graphite considerably increases the value of the spring-back of expanded graphite brackets. Multiplied value of the spring-back guarantees stable tightness even at the fierce release of bolts, under all operational regimes and within the longest time intervals.

MITes MF(s)®

mites-mfsThe innovated kammprofile gasket MITes HF 400 with additional pressure-tight effect which guarantees higher utility properties especially tightness and operational reliability under minimum tightening force.

Great flexibility is guaranteed by a pre-stressed insert made of expanded graphite which increases the value of the spring-back of expanded graphite brackets. Multiplied value of the spring-back and multiplicative pressure-tight effect guarantees stable tightness even at fierce release of bolts.

MiHD®

Sealing rings made of expanded graphite with anti-extrusion properties and with possibility to set the required sealing characteristics very precisely depending on the operational parameters and real geometric dimensions of the sealing point provide high tightness and operational reliability during long operation with high load on the sealing.

MITes LP®

This gasket is made from fibre-rubber material. It is produced in various shapes and thicknesses. The most common use is for sealing flange connections on devices which operate with water or steam at lower parameters.

MITes FS®

Sealing system of flanged connections of high temperature circuits with a corrosive medium is formed by a molded gasket of expanded graphite with increased heat resistance which is fitted in a precisely defined groove formed by spacer rings.

1) Research and development of technology of nuclear reactors cooled by molten salt

The project builds on the previous project „The sealing for molten salt reactors and industrial molten salt technologies”. The aim of this project is to design and test a complete sealing system for real components of loops cooled by molten salt (pipeline routes, fittings, pumps,…) while using the results of the previous project where the basic concepts of this system were developed and tested under laboratory conditions

The project builds on the previous project „Technologies for gas purification and sealing for advanced applications in nuclear and non-nuclear energetics applications“. The aim of this project is to design a sealing system for presumed components of helium cooled reactors, i.e. design and test types of gaskets (with regard to presumed range of pressure, temperature and dimensions) and quantify their leakage so that these results can be consequently used in designing and dimensioning the nuclear reactor itself and its auxiliary systems. We will use results from previous project where the basic concepts of this system were developed and tested under laboratory conditions.
